The Forum was held on 29 April 2025 at the University of Newcastle, Australia. The objective was to explore sustainable solutions and how to accelerate the delivery of affordable housing. The outcomes showed that the proposals have greater capacity to influence house prices in regional city centres such as Newcastle, rather than in overheated metropolitan markets.
A recurring theme is collaboration. Government, academia, practice, and the community need to work collectively to address systemic barriers and create practical, scalable solutions. The report provides a coherent basis for actionable research and developing a policy agenda. Working in collaboration, the University can catalyse the next stage by producing pilot projects, and the establishment of a regional innovation cluster.
